Principles of Herbal medicine

  • Healing power of nature : recognizing our body has an innate nature to heal. By providing the correct building blocks, your body can create its own health.
  • Identify and treat the cause : as a holistic modality, herbal medicine not only treats the symptoms but focuses on treating the underlying cause of the symptoms.
  • Treat the whole person : this approach acknowledges that health is influenced by many things – environmental, emotional, social, physical, occupational factors.
  • First do no harm : just like medical doctors, herbalists are ethically bound to do no harm. In terms of herbal medicine this means prescribing evidence based dosage, knowledge of herb/drug interactions, using safe effective medicines, and above all doing what is right for the client.
  • PRACTiTioner as teacher : the practice of herbal medicine aims to educate the client and to encourage self-empowerment.
  • Prevention : support and optimise health in order to prevent disease.

These principle are applied using an evidenced based approach,  providing you with safe and effective treatment.
